SHUVALOV IGOR AND VOROBYOV ANDREI GOT ACQUAINTED WITH THE RESULTS OF BEBIG LLC ACTIVITIES
Yesterday, on May 26, 2015, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, the Governor of the Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov, the Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and the Head of Federal Tax Service of Russia Mikhail Mishustin familiarized with the activities of Bebig. The presentation took place in the framework of the working visit of the governmental delegation to the special "Dubna" economic zone.
Director General of Bebig LLC Kirill Mayorov told the authorities about the existing plant for the production of iodine-125 microsources for the treatment of prostate cancer and a promising project to create nanostructured microspheres for treatment of liver cancer and pancreatic cancer.
"Annually more than 500,000 thousand cancer patients are diagnosed in Russia, including 30,000 patients with prostate cancer. Microsources produced by us are intended for the treatment of prostate cancer at T1 - T2 stage by low-dose-rate brachytherapy. This technology allows for effective treatment, but only in the early stages of the disease", - said Kirill Mayorov. A year earlier, on June 26, 2014, in Dubna, Bebig LLC, portfolio company of RUSNANO, launched the production of a full cycle of microsources for low-dose brachytherapy using iodine-125 isotope. It is a joint venture of the European Group Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG and RUSNANO. Total investment in the project amounted to 688 million rubles, including RUSNANO co-financing in the amount of 496 million rubles. Up to 2014, all components were purchased for operations abroad, including implantable microsources on the basis of iodine-125, which are the main component of the operation.
