BRACHYTHERAPY GAINED MOMENTUM IN THE VOLGA REGION
February 19, 2015, with the participation of BEBIG and the non-commercial partnership "Association of Russian brachytherapists" master-class for brachytherapy operations of prostate cancer treatment was conducted in the Nizhny Novgorod on the base of FBIH "Volga District Medical Center" FMBA Russia. Volga District Medical Center FMBA Russia is the largest clinic in the Volga region. Among the various medical fields, provided by the center, special attention is dedicated to high-tech medical care carried out using complex and unique medical technologies based on the latest achievements of science and technology. These methods include brachytherapy.
Chief Urologist of Nizhny Novgorod region, Professor Atduev Vagif Akhmetovich said that "we have long wanted to acquire this technique much needed for our patients". Under his supervision a master-class was organized, during which the two operations for patients suffering from prostate cancer were successfully carried out. Urologist Yudeev Ivan Vladimirovich operated in Nizhny Novgorod with acute attention of the leading specialist of Institute of Urology MH, the Russian Federation, Ph.D., Oshchepkov Vasily Nikolayevich, who accounts for more than a thousand brachytherapy operations on prostate cancer treatment.
The employees of the Center and the leading oncourologists of Volga Federal District were invited to the workshop.
Director General of BEBIG LLC Mayorov Kirill said that "in terms of
improvement of medical services quality it is necessary to use high-tech
methods of treatment for prostate cancer. In the future, BEBIG LLC will expand
the geography of innovative minimally invasive brachytherapy for prostate
cancer. "
